The Story of Noah

The World’s Wickedness

In the days of Noah, people had become very wicked and violent.

God saw the corruption of mankind and decided to send a flood to destroy all life on earth.

But Noah was a righteous man who walked with God.

God’s Command to Build the Ark

God told Noah to build a great wooden ark (a huge boat).

The ark was to have three decks, rooms, and be sealed with pitch to make it waterproof.

God said He would bring a flood to destroy every living thing, but Noah, his wife, his three sons (Shem, Ham, Japheth), and their wives would be saved.

Noah was also commanded to bring two of every kind of animal (male and female), and seven of every clean animal, into the ark to preserve life.

The Great Flood

When Noah was 600 years old, the flood came.

Rain fell for 40 days and 40 nights, and the waters covered even the highest mountains.

Every living creature outside the ark perished.

The ark floated on the waters, keeping Noah, his family, and the animals safe.

The Waters Recede

After 150 days, the waters began to go down.

The ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat.

Noah sent out a raven and a dove to see if the earth was drying.

The dove returned with an olive leaf, showing that the floodwaters had receded.
