A simple mechanical trapdoor platform for a Rube Goldberg machine. A small rectangular wooden platform is mounted horizontally between two vertical support posts. The platform has ONE horizontal hinge along its BACK edge, allowing the entire platform to rotate downward approximately 90 degrees. In the CLOSED position, a small metal locking pin on the FRONT edge holds the platform perfectly horizontal. A simple mechanical trigger lever pushes the locking pin sideways and releases the platform. After the pin is released, the platform must be able to rotate freely downward under gravity.
