This is their chama — a space of savings, sisterhood, and strength.” Add light laughter and the sound of coins. Scene 2 – The Silence Mary, early 30s, looks anxious. She says: “My neighbor’s son was arrested three days ago. Police say he’s a criminal, but we know him. They’re asking for twenty thousand shillings.” The room falls silent. Women exchange worried glances. Scene 3 – Shared Struggles Jane, late 20s: “My employer hasn’t paid me for two months.” Grace, 40s: “Our landlord raised rent without warning and threatened to evict us.” Cut to brief visuals: a landlord shouting, a woman counting unpaid wages, a mother holding her child. Narrator: “Different voices, same pain. They realize they’re not just sharing problems — they’re documenting injustice.” Scene 4 – The Awakening Mary: “Maybe we should talk about what’s wrong around us.” Jane: “We can write these stories down.” Grace: “Maybe it’s time our chama did more than count money.” Women lean in together, a sense of courage building. Scene 5 – Transformation Montage Show them writing in notebooks, making calls, comforting neighbors, smiling together. Narrator: “That day, something changed. These women became witnesses, recorders, defenders.” Scene 6 – Closing Wide shot of Kawangware — streets, children, women walking home.
