Conceptual Seat Design (A) Pivoted Seat Base The seat pan is mounted on a gimbal or hinge system Pivot point is above the combined center of mass (seat + passenger). Effect: During braking → seat tilts slightly backward During acceleration → seat tilts forward During turning → seat tilts inward This keeps the passenger balanced relative to gravity. (B) Weighted Underslung Mechanism A mass is attached below the seat pan (like the bottom weight in a self-leveling cup). The weight always tries to hang vertically. Result: When the bus jerks or turns, the weight generates a corrective torque. The seat automatically returns to a neutral position. 3.
