The scene opens on a sunny clearing. A large, smooth rock serves as a teacher's desk. Log benches are in a semi-circle. LEO, MIMI, and ELLU are sitting, wiggling with excitement. MIMI is hanging upside down from a nearby vine.) **PROFESSOR HOOT** (flies in and lands gracefully on the rock. They are wearing a small, leafy bowtie.) Hoo-hoo! Leo sits up straight, puffing out his chest.) **LEO** A challenge? I’m strong! I can win any challenge! Rrroar! **ELLU** (raises his trunk shyly) Um, Professor? Is it a *loud* challenge? I’m better at quiet challenges. **PROFESSOR HOOT** This challenge is for everyone! (Professor Hoot points to a pile of bamboo sticks, large leaves, and vines in the corner.) Your challenge is to work together to build the tallest, strongest tower you can before the big, yellow sun-leaf (a leaf on a tree that catches the light) touches the ground! **MIMI** Tallest? We gotta be fast, fast, fast! **LEO** And strongest! I'll be the leader! **ELLU** Oh, my. We'd better be very... careful. **PROFESSOR HOOT** The only rule is… you must all work as a team! You may begin! (Professor Hoot flies to a high branch to watch.) --- ### **[SCENE 2: THE FAILED ATTEMPT]** (The "challenge" music starts—fast and silly.) **LEO** (struts over to the pile) Okay, team! I’m the leader. Here’s the plan. We need the biggest, strongest sticks at the bottom. Ellu, you get the heavy ones. Mimi, you... just stay out of the way! **MIMI** Stay out of the way? But I want to help! (Mimi grabs a long vine and starts swinging it like a lasso.) Whee! I’m helping! (Ellu carefully picks up a heavy bamboo log with his trunk.) **ELLU** Okay, Leo... Let me help! (Mimi grabs the log from Ellu, zips to the middle of the clearing, and plunks it down sideways.) Ta-da! First piece! **LEO** Rrroar! Mimi, that’s all wrong! It’s supposed to be strong! Like this! (Leo grabs two sticks and shoves them into the ground. He tries to balance another stick on top, but it wobbles.) **ELLU** (trudging over) Oh dear, Leo, that’s not balanced. It’s going to… (Before Ellu can finish, the stick wobbles and falls.) **MIMI** My turn! (Mimi zips up the wobbling structure and tries to tie it with a vine.) I'll tie it! I'll tie it! (But Mimi is too fast. She accidentally ties Leo’s tail to Ellu’s trunk.) **LEO** Hey! My tail! **ELLU** My trunk! (Leo roars and pulls, Ellu gently pulls back, and Mimi giggles, but the entire tiny structure they built... *CRASHES*... into a messy pile.) --- ### **[SCENE 3: THE TEAMWORK LESSON]** (The music stops. The three friends sit in the pile of sticks. They look very sad.) **LEO** Hmph. This is impossible. **MIMI** It’s not fun anymore. **ELLU** (sadly) Our tower is just a pile. (Professor Hoot flies down and lands beside them.) **PROFESSOR HOOT** Hoo! That was quite a tumble. Why do you think your tower fell? **LEO** Because Mimi was too fast and silly! **MIMI** Nuh-uh! You weren't working *against* each other, but you weren't working *with* each other, either. You weren't being a team. (Professor Hoot looks at each of them.) Leo, you have wonderful **strength**. Mimi, you have amazing **speed**. And Ellu, you are so careful and **gentle**. What if... you tried again? But this time, you used all your special skills *together*? (The three friends look at each other. A new, hopeful "let's do it!" song begins.) **LEO** Together? (He looks at Ellu.) Okay... Ellu, you’re right. We need a good, careful base. Can you find the perfect, balanced spot? **ELLU** (His eyes light up) I can! (Ellu carefully pats the ground and places the three heaviest logs in a perfect, strong triangle.) There. A strong, gentle base. **LEO** Great! Now we need to build up. (He holds two tall sticks.) But I can't hold them and tie them... **MIMI** I can! I can! (Leo holds the sticks steady and strong.) I'm ready, Leo! **LEO** Now, Mimi! **MIMI** (zips around the sticks) Zip! Zap! Zop! (Mimi uses her speed to tie the vines in perfect, tight knots. The tower is getting tall!) **ELLU** Oh, wonderful! Now for the very top piece. (He points with his trunk.) That big leaf! But it's too delicate for Leo's claws and too big for Mimi... **LEO & MIMI** (look at Ellu) But it’s perfect for... **ELLU** ...my trunk! (Ellu carefully picks up the big, beautiful leaf. He reaches up... up... up... and places it gently on the very top.) (The music swells. The three friends stand back. They have built a tall, strong, and beautiful tower.) --- ### **[SCENE 4: FIRST DAY SUCCESS]** (The sun-leaf on the tree touches the ground. Time is up.) **PROFESSOR HOOT** (flies down, beaming) Hoo-hoo-HOORAY! What a magnificent tower! **LEO** Wow! It’s so strong! **MIMI** And it’s so tall! **ELLU** And it’s beautiful. We did it! **MIMI** (jumps onto Leo's back) We did it *together*! **PROFESSOR HOOT** And *that*, my students, is teamwork! You all used your special talents to help each other. That's your very first lesson at Jungle Classrooms! (The three friends give each other a big group hug.) **LEO, MIMI, & ELLU** (waving to the camera) Bye-bye!
