Silent Owl-Tech: Biomimetic Fan Design This project mimics the silent flight of an owl to create a noise-free air conditioning fan. We integrated three key biological features into the design: 1. Serrations (The Entrance) • What is it? Sawtooth-like ridges on the leading edge (front) of the fan blade. • What does it do? It breaks the incoming air into smaller micro-streams. This prevents large, noisy air turbulences before they even start. 2. Velvety Surface (The Body) • What is it? A soft, downy texture (microfiber coating) covering the entire blade surface. • What does it do? It acts like an acoustic sponge. It absorbs the friction noise created as air flows over the blade, converting sound into heat.
