The Ópera de Arame in Curitiba is a circular, lightweight theater built primarily from an exposed steel tubular lattice that gives it a transparent, wire-frame appearance. The structure sits over an artificial lake inside a former quarry, and visitors enter through a long, narrow elevated walkway that crosses the water to the main entrance. Its cylindrical form is wrapped in a repeating grid of thin black steel tubes filled with large transparent polycarbonate panels, including a translucent roof that allows natural light inside. The interior contains a semi-circular, tiered seating arrangement facing a rectangular stage positioned along one side of the circle. The building appears elevated slightly above the water, with the lake reflecting the steel structure, and the surrounding rocky quarry walls and vegetation remain visible through the transparent façade, creating a strong integration between architecture and nature.
