This Burgh Castle-type late Roman ridge helmet (3rd–4th c.) is a two-piece domed bowl: two rounded steel plates joined along the centerline by a raised vertical ridge running from brow to nape, giving a subtle peaked, almond-shaped profile. Surface is smooth, plain steel, matte finish, undecorated. The dome curves outward to a simple, slightly flared lower rim circling the head — no separate browband. No nasal guard, no eye openings; front edge is a plain curved rim above the brow. Two large rounded cheek plates hang from the lower sides, curving inward along the jaw, attached by leather straps, tying under the chin. The rear base tapers slightly outward, forming a shallow neck-guard lip. Overall: a rounded two-lobed dome with visible central seam, smooth plates, hanging cheek guards, clean curved lower edge — functional, unadorned cavalry helmet shape. Dimensions: ~22.5 cm front-to-back, 19.7 cm ear-to-ear, fits up to 62 cm head circumference, 1.5 mm carbon steel.
