Prompt
Today let’s understand how the stomach works. When we eat food, it travels down the food pipe (esophagus) and enters the stomach. The stomach is a muscular, bag-like organ that stores and mixes food. Its muscles squeeze and churn the food, breaking it into smaller pieces. At the same time, the stomach releases gastric juice that contains acid (HCl) and enzymes. The acid kills germs and helps digest food, while enzymes begin breaking down proteins. This mixing turns food into a semi-liquid substance called chyme. After a few hours, the stomach slowly releases chyme into the small intestine, where digestion continues. So, the stomach’s main job is to store, mix, and start digesting food before passing it on.”
